Behind Daniel Day-Lewis’ Final On-Screen Haircut

V76 Founder Vaughn Acord sat down with GQ.com to explain Daniel Day-Lewis’ haircut in what is rumored to be his final on-screen role.

Day-Lewis stars as a dressmaker in the new Paul Thomas Anderson film, Phantom Thread. Acord calls Day-Lewis’ cut, seen in the recently released trailer, a "low Hollywood taper.”

"This cut sits low, so there is fullness and balance to the sides and back. The hair is meant to be swept back, as if it melts that way,” says Acord.

To achieve the look, Acord suggests using Texture Clay or Pomade to give the hair hold that won’t be restrictive. He advises to go lighter on product if your hair is very dark, “You don’t want the product to be visible and shiny. A little goes a long way,” he explains.
